This policy is designed to comply with applicable data protection laws, heavily drawing on the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, and incorporating principles from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable to our global users.

We collect information in the following ways:

• Information You Provide to Us: When you register for an account, we collect personal data such as your name, email address, phone number, and billing information. If you contact customer support, we retain records of your communications.
• Client Data and Case Files: When you use Lawvara's AI Co-Counsel or Transcription services, you may upload legal documents, case files, or audio recordings. We treat this data with the highest level of confidentiality and only process it to provide the requested services.
• Automatically Collected Information: We automatically collect device information, IP addresses, browser types, and usage data (such as time spent on pages, queries executed) using cookies and similar tracking technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes:

• Service Delivery: To provide, maintain, and improve the Lawvara Services, including processing audio for transcription and utilizing our AI models to generate legal research.
• Account Management: To process payments, manage subscriptions, and provide customer support.
• Communication: To send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and administrative messages.
• Legal Compliance: To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Note on AI Processing: Data uploaded to our offline Stenographer product remains entirely on the local appliance and is never transmitted to our cloud servers. Data processed via our cloud AI Co-Counsel is transiently processed and is not used to train our foundational AI models without your explicit consent.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share your data only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party vendors who provide services on our behalf (e.g., payment processing, cloud hosting), bound by strict data processing agreements.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or other legal processes, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of IT Pexels, our users, or others.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user information may be transferred.

While IT Pexels is headquartered in Nigeria, we may use global cloud infrastructure. Where data is transferred outside of Nigeria or the EEA, we ensure that adequate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or NDPR-compliant transfer mechanisms) are in place to protect your data.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have specific rights regarding your personal data:

• Under NDPR/NDPA & GDPR: You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time.
• Under CCPA: California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (Note: We do not sell your personal information).

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by law. When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
